I stumbled upon the world of Adfraud recently while doing some research on a personal assignment and was amazed at the magnitude of the issue. The racket is so big that it’s surprising Vice hasn’t made a documentary on it yet.
Fascinated by the numbers and the impact of Adfraud, I have tried to crunch my findings in the form of a small presentation. I have also tried to come with up a tool that can be internally developed by agencies, consulting firms. This tool takes its inspiration from some of the pre-existing tools available in the market as of now.
Lastly, I have given a list of some of the most interesting articles I have come across on the topic.
So, What is Adfraud?
Ad fraud is a deliberate practice of attempting to serve ads that have no potential to be viewed by a human user.
It is also known as Non-Human Traffic/ Invalid Traffic.
What’s the Impact?
Ad Fraud Will Cost $7.2 Billion in 2016, Up Nearly $1 Billion. By 2025, the digital ad market could be 2nd only to drug trafficking as largest revenue source for organized crime and adfraud will play a major role.
Feel free to share your thoughts on the presentation, the topic. Also, do share the measures your agency, or you as a brand are taking in dealing with issues in the comments.
